My name is Nancy Weidenbach and this is my second year of teaching 7th grade computers at Harrisburg Middle School. Previous to teaching computers, I taught 6th grade math for 5 years, and spent 10 years teaching 5th grade in a self contatined classroom.~
I chose the Education Techology standard of 7.SI.1.1 Correlate the illegal/unethical use of technology to the consequences as it relates to changes in society. Basically I spent a lot of time focusing on Internet Safety issues and Cyberbullying. Our middle school has spent much of this year focusing on creating a cohesive middle school environment now that we are in our own building and have spent a lot of time working on bullying prevention with our kids. I really feel that along with bullying in our hallways, we have to also teach our kids to be aware of cyberbullying and then of course, Internet Safety.
My students will be using the 21st Century Themes of Civic & Health LIteracy to engage them through activities that will team them about Internet Safety and Cyberbullying Issues.
